No Ordinary Girl Joel Dobbins Watching Like A Hawk
Back Story:
"Another song recorded about 10 years ago and originally released on SoundCloud, a demo recorded in the car. I really liked the innocence of these lyrics and it really captured that teenage first love sort of feeling, very autobiographical really. This song offers a cheery light balance to some of the heavier themed songs on this album. The false ending was inspired by Paul McCartney's false ending in "Find My Way" from the McCartney III "rockdown" album. The bass lines in the verse are perhaps my favourites to date."
- Joel Dobbins
Lyrics:
Every time I look you are smiling at me
There is just no one else in this world
I've been looking with my eyes closed
I feel such a fool for ignoring you
I better get my head on straight
Come meet me Saturday down by the sea
Perhaps though it's a bit too late
A girl like you doesn't get left by herself too long
Have I ignored your love too long
Have I lost the golden girl
You are who I sing about
Dream about you're just no ordinary girl
Have I lost the girl of rubies
She's dancing but not so much laughing
Her eyes sparkling or are those tears
Have those eyes already cried over me
Have I ignored your love too long
Have I lost the golden girl
You are who I sing about
Dream about you're just no ordinary girl
You used to be unattainable
But now you're so relatable
Please tell me when you might be free
But only if your heart hasn't forgotten me
Have I ignored your love too long
Have I lost the golden girl
You are who I sing about
Dream about you're just no ordinary girl
Do you feel the same electricity
Do you dream the same dreams I see
Life shapes us but do we still fit
Is your soul up to taking the next move
Have I ignored your love too long
Have I lost the golden girl
You are who I sing about
Dream about you're just no ordinary girl
