Firelucy
Firelucy was a pop-jazz Wollongong band consisting of Jo Parnell, Sean Crombie, Joel Dobbins and Claire Wright. Originally a pop lineup, Firelucy began writing and performing original music and covers around the Illawarra. Their first demo "Disease", which Joel's brother Sam Dobbins featured in and co-wrote, was received remarkably well in early 2012, being played on VOX FM and Triple J Unearthed and getting Firelucy a mention in the Tertangala magazine. With Sam Dobbins departing overseas, Firelucy found unique instrumentation and sound by converting to a three-piece jazz lineup of just keyboard, bass guitar and drums (with Joel Dobbins swapping to acoustic guitar on some songs). The group were hard at work writing their back-catalogue of material and performing with interstate bands having worked with acts such as Gotye and Boy and Bear. Towards the end of 2012, the band recorded their first EP, "Puppet". Firelucy went on to play to ticket paying crowds of 850, and featuring on ABC Radio, Triple J, The Illawarra Mercury, VOX FM, RAW and various articles, podcasts and other media releases. Despite at the top of their game, Firelucy disbanded on the 9th of February 2014.
