Life Joel Dobbins Watching Like A Hawk
Back Story:
"Unwittingly, the vocals were recorded on the 10th anniversary of Pete Vaartjes's death, a dear friend of mine and of others with whom I walked to school with everyday throughout highschool, and were on the same cricket, indoor cricket and tennis teams together. Most unfortunately though, we all lost him while he was on holidays overseas in America just weeks after us all celebrating his 21st birthday. This is a message to all young people, including Pete, who have everything going for them but their lives can easily be taken away from them either very quickly or gradually over time being targeted on, leeched on or manipulated by people who effectively drain or take over their life in some way. This song is really a message to say that all you have is life and that you should go to every length to ensure you are not only protecting it living it the fullest and to heed warning about those who via many clever techniques can threaten that basic human right, perhaps even in ways that you are aware of in hindsight. Another angle in the message is that even if someone isn't spending your life, make sure you are spending your life as so many just don't do anything with their lives and it's such a waste of potential joy, accomplishment, inspiration and exciting discovery to not try and utilise every second you have in the way you most desire your life to be spent. The bridge was inspired by Bob Dylan in terms of both simplicity in the music and vocally."

Lyrics:
On the straight and narrow, living my best life
Doing all the right things, keeping out of strife
When you least expect it things may quickly change
If you try you'll make it through and safe from those deranged
Only a little while ago you felt like Superman
Nothing's changed, only your mind, but now you understand
We're always taking risks it seems, aren't thinking at the time
Careful that you don't lose all your precious days of prime
Life is all that you've got that's free
Life, can't agree on the purpose for
Life, protect it while you've got it, your life
Don't let them get their hands on your
Life is all that you've got that's free
Life, can't agree on the purpose for
Life, protect it while you've got it, your life
Don't let them get their hands on it
It's good it's just a wake up call, how lucky you really are
Be as wise as you can be so you can travel far
Recall for just a moment those we've lost through accidents
Some were plain unlucky, others lacked some common sense
Life is all that you've got that's free
Life, can't agree on the purpose for
Life, protect it while you've got it, your life
Don't let them get their hands on your
Life is all that you've got that's free
Life, can't agree on the purpose for
Life, protect it while you've got it, your life
Don't let them get their hands on it
Be careful of those your intuition knows
You should never trust those souls
It might be quite surprising you will find
That in life there are so many trolls
Life is all that you've got that's free
Life, can't agree on the purpose for
Life, protect it while you've got it, your life
Don't let them get their hands on your life
