At the beginning of 2013, Joel joined forces with symphonic power metal Sydney band Euryale, previously Eve of NitemareZ. The band had just lost their bassist and so Joel joined initially only as a stand-in bassist so the band could still participate in the upcoming Balmain Blitz competition. The competition went really well, they made it through the initial heats, then Semi Finals and then the Grand Final where they were placed second out of approximately 50 bands who participated in the competition. To congratulate them, they were joined on stage by Wayne Connolly, producer of The Vines, and Jane Huxley, the Head of Pandora Australia. Joel became a permanent member of the band thereafter. During the following 18 months, the band won the Immortal Christian Band competition and played a number festivals such as UBERfest. These events were often organised by Denny Burgess of The Masters Apprentices, brother of Colin Burgess of AC/DC. In 2014, Hans moved overseas to San Francisco and hence the band entered a hiatus. Since the band had not been performing, recording or writing for months and still had no progress finding a new drummer, Joel went on to follow his own musical direction and focus on writing his own material.
